SUMMARY:You're a Good Man\, Charlie Brown Auditions - February 26\, 27\, & 28
DESCRIPTION:Auditions for You’re a Good Man\, Charlie Brown will be held in-person as follows: \nDate & Times: \n\nFebruary 26th from 2pm – 6pm\nFebruary 27th and 28th  from 7pm to 9pm\nCall backs will be March 2nd from 7pm to 9pm\n\nLocation: 15 Frank E. Rogers Blvd. South\, Harrison\, NJ (the former Holy Cross High School) \nProduction Dates: April 22\, 23 and 29\, 30 (potential matinee shows on Sundays TBA) \n  \nActors ages 21 to 75 are invited to audition. Gender for the actors playing the roles are flexible\, please be ready to audition for all roles. Three nights of auditions will be focused on singing and dancing. Please prepare 32 bars from a song from the show\, or from the song of your choice for audition night. Our choreographer will be teaching a 16 count to all auditioners\, come dressed comfortably and prepared to dance. The director is looking for our principal players and also a strong dance ensemble. Prepared sides and monologues will be handed out at callbacks. \nA note on COVID-19: all actors will be required to provide proof of vaccination when auditioning. \nMasks will be mandatory during the rehearsal process leading up to tech week. \nVirtual Auditions: If you are unable to attend the audition dates listed above but are still interested in coming out for You’re a Good Man\, Charlie Brown\, video auditions will be accepted until February 25th at 9pm. Please submit your audition video to Director\, Amanda Castro-Conroy\, and Choreographer\, Bong Dizon\, at CharlieBrown@whatconj.org  \n  \nCharacters: Although the genders and ages for the characters are already assigned by the creator\, they are not fixed for our concept for the actors in our show. Therefore all characters genders and ages are flexible depending on individuals auditions. Charlie Brown’s director would like to keep all possibilities open and is looking to see what you bring to the characters. \n\nDance ensemble: Looking for a strong dancers to fill in background vocals and to perform the large dance numbers.\nSnoopy:  A loyal\, imaginative\, and good-natured beagle who is prone to imagining fantasy lives\, including being an author\, a college student known as “Joe Cool”\, an attorney\, and a World War I flying ace. Looking for strong vocalist and a great showman to portray this classic character.\nCharlie Brown: Good ol’ Charlie Brown is loyal\, determined\, and just a bit wishy-washy. He’s a true friend\, a dedicated baseball manager\, and very responsible when it comes to taking care of his dog\, . Charlie Brown never gives up\, even when he probably should.\nLucy Van Pelt: Though she’s often dismissed as simply bossy or crabby\, there’s more to Lucy than strong opinions. She dispenses sound advice for just five cents and looks out for her brothers\,  and Rerun. She’s confident\, strong\, and positive she’ll make a great president or queen one day.\nLinus Van Pelt: Thoughtful and respectful\, Linus is often the voice of reason among his peers. He is a deep thinker and a student of philosophy. Despite his run-ins with cantankerous Lucy\, and the fact no one understands why he carries a security blanket\, Linus remains delightfully hopeful.\nLinus’s Blanket: Looking for a strong dancer to perform alongside Linus during the duration of the show. Looking to find someone who is experienced in movement and dance and to work alongside our choreographer to make this beloved object a character of its own. Will potentially have to fill in background vocals.\nSchroeder: A moody musical genius\, Schroeder has been playing the piano since before he could walk. He also enjoys baseball and being with friends\, but he’s never happier than when playing a Beethoven piece—even if the black keys of his piano are just painted on.\nSally Brown: A highly articulate\, charismatic\, lovable\, sometimes eccentric and argumentative younger sister to Charlie Brown. Despite being portrayed as innocent and adorable\, she is noticeably intelligent for her age. She is absurdly intense\, balancing angst with innocence\, sweet but a skeptic.\n\nQuestions: Contact charliebrown@whatconj.org \n  \n* Stage and technical crew\, set building\, and other volunteers are also needed for this production! SUMMARY:Proof Auditions
DESCRIPTION:Auditions will be held in-person as follows:\nDate: August 24 & 25\nTime: 7:00 pm\nLocation: American Legion\, 314 Belgrove Drive\, Kearny. NJ 07032\n\nActors ages 18+ are invited to read from the provided sides. Note that this production will be a stage reading followed by a “talk back” discussion about the perception of mental illness.\n\nSides:\n\n\nSide 1 (Catherine_Claire)\nSide 2 (Catherine_Hal)\nSide 3 (Catherine_Hal 2)\nSide 4 (Catherine_Robert)\nSide 5 (Robert_ Catherine)\n\nCharacters:\n\nCatherine (F\, 25)\, a college dropout\, has spent several years at home caring for her mentally ill father. Their relationship\, although sometimes antagonistic on the surface\, was sustained by strong mutual affection. Although she is a highly intelligent woman\, she has no direction in life. Catherine is worried that she may inherit her father’s illness\, and the signs of mental instability are already there. \nRobert (M\, 50-60s) was a famous mathematician who has just died of a heart attack in his fifties. He is already dead when the play begins\, but he appears in the first scene in Catherine’s imagination and returns in two later scenes\, which flash back to earlier years. Robert was afflicted by a serious mental illness which dogged the remainder of his life. He became so incapacitated that his daughter Catherine had to stay at home to care for him. Robert had a deep affection for Catherine. \nClaire (F\, late 20s-early 30s) is Catherine’s twenty-nine-year-old efficient\, practical\, and successful sister. Unlike Catherine\, she has inherited none of her father’s erratic genius. Instead\, she has made a career in New York as a currency analyst. Claire and Catherine have never gotten along well. Claire feels responsible for Catherine’s welfare and wants her to move to New York\, but Catherine resents what she sees as Claire’s interference in her life. \nHal (M\, 28) is a twenty-eight-year-old mathematician who teaches at the University of Chicago. He also plays drums in a rock band made up of mathematicians. Hal is a former student of Robert’s\, whom he admired immensely\, not only for the brilliance of his achievements in mathematics but because Robert helped him through a bad patch in his doctoral studies. Hal first met Catherine briefly four years earlier\, and when he meets her again (in an attempt to find any redeemable work by Robert in his later years)\, he quickly becomes romantically involved.

SUMMARY:Vintage Hitchcock - A Radio Play
DESCRIPTION:Thank you for your support. For more information\, contact tickets@whatco.org\n\n\n\n\n\nBring your own blanket\, lawn chairs and picnic. Enjoy an evening of theater under the stars with spooky stories from the master of suspense!\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout this Event\n\n\nWest Hudson Arts & Theater Company proudly presents – Vintage Hitchcock – A Live Radio Play by Joe Landry. Directed by Michael Haefner and Brandi-Leigh Miller. \nShow date is October 24 at 7:00 pm in Arlington Depot Park (between Elm & Forest Streets\, Kearny). \nVintage Hitchcock – A Live Radio Play is the brain child of Joe Landry\, who also wrote It’s A Wonderful Life\, A Radio Play. The entire show is performed as a 1940’s live radio broadcast complete with live Jingles\, an Announcer and two Foley Artists creating the sound effects. The cast of fourteen actors play over 60 different characters\, so each of the actors will play multiple roles and will be creating many of the sound effects in the show. \nThe play is derived from three early Hitchcock films. The first\, The Lodger\, is a tale from turn of the century London\, where a poor couple finds a Lodger to rent their spare room so their daughter can return home. Too late the mother suspects the Lodger may be the serial killer known as the Avenger. Can she save her daughter in time? There is only one way to find out. \nThe second story of the trio is Sabotage. This is a nice warm tale of International Intrigue. We meet Anton Verloc\, his wife Winnie and her brother Stevie. Anton owns a cinema but performs sabotage as a foreign agent on the side. As a result of his actions a lot of people die\, including two out of three of the family members. \nThe final tale is called The 39 Steps. This is the story of an intrepid Canadian named Richard Hannay\, who gets himself mixed up in murder\, mayhem and international plots. The only way for him to clear his name and avoid jail\, is to go on the run across the English and Scottish countryside trying to solve the mystery\, and who knows he might find love along the way. \nEach story is more exciting than the last! Don’t miss out on your chance to see\, Vintage Hitchcock – A Live Radio Play!!!
