SUMMARY:Auditions: The Best Christmas Pageant Ever
DESCRIPTION:Mary Robinson’s The Best Christmas Pageant Ever\, based on her novel of the same name\, is a widely beloved Christmas tale\, warm and incredibly funny\, full of characters both relatable and utterly unique. \nThe large cast and age range make this show a community favorite\, in which a varied\, multi-generational group of performers can come together. \n  \nAuditions for The Best Christmas Pageant Ever\, directed by Francesca Stokes and stage managed by Bernadette Oberndorf will be held as follows: \nAudition Date & Times: \n\nTuesday Sept 26th  from 7pm to 9pm\nWednesday Sept 27 from 7 pm to 9 pm\nCallbacks (if needed) will be Thursday Sept 28th from 7pm to 9 pm (by invitation only)\nIf unable to attend in person\, you can submit a video audition via YouTube and completed audition form and conflicts calendar to ChristmasPageant@whatconj.org by Sep 25th\n\nLocation: 15 Frank E. Rodgers Blvd. South\, Harrison\, NJ (the former Holy Cross High School) \nProduction Dates: Dec 1st – Dec 10th \n\n Audition Form (fillable pdf)\n\n Audition Packet (Sides and Monologues)\n\n Conflicts Calendar\nAll actors of any background in Grade 2 and older are invited to audition\nActors under 18 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian at all times during auditions\n  \nRehearsals: \n* Read Thru – Saturday\, October 14th at 2:00 pm \nRehearsals will take place on weekday evenings and possibly an afternoon on the weekends.  \nActors should have good availability the two weeks prior to the show (excluding Thanksgiving Day\, Nov 23rd). \nPlease list all conflicts between October 14th and the shows on the Conflicts Calendar Form.  \n  \nThe original production of The Best Christmas Pageant Ever cast 19 actors\, with ages ranging from 7 to 60+. Please be honest on your audition form about the roles you would accept.  \n  \nAll actors should have strong comedic timing.  \n  \nSummary: \nBeth Bradley’s church’s Christmas pageant is predictable every year — the angel choir sings off key\, the shepherds are all in their father’s bathrobes\, the minister’s son is permanently cast in the role of Joseph. It is hardly “four-star entertainment.” But when seasoned and authoritative pageant director Mrs. Armstrong breaks her leg\, it is up to Beth’s inexperienced mother Grace to step in. The timing couldn’t be worse\, as the rambunctious Herdman children\, a rough and tough group of siblings\, descend upon the pageant\, lured by the promise of free dessert at Sunday school\, and determined to win all the lead roles for themselves. The Ladies’ Aid Society members are beside themselves with disapproval\, all the shepherds quit because Gladys Herdman “hits too hard”\, the show is briefly re-titled “Revenge at Bethlehem\,” and the church catches on fire. But Beth and her community watch in surprise as the same old Christmas story is rejuvenated by the creativity\, energy\, and unexpected sincerity of a misunderstood young family. \n  \nCharacters: \nCast size of 20 people\, 2nd grade and older. \n  \nMother (Grace Bradley)  (female) – age 35-45 attractive\, involved mom  \nFather (Bob Bradley) (male) – age 35-45 solid\, family man  \nBeth Bradley (female) – Age 10-11 the narrator\, strong voice and presence \nCharlie Bradley (male) – Age 8-9 traditional kid brother \nRalph Herdman (male) – Age 12-13 ragged\, scroungy\, slouching manner; touch of adolescent cool \nImogene Herdman (female) – Age 11-12 loud\, bossy\, crafty \nLeroy Herdman (male) – Age 10-11 tough\, sure of himself \nClaude Herdman (male) – Age 9-10 tough\, combative \nOllie Herdman (male) – Age 8-9 looking for trouble\, Claude’s usual partner in crime \nGladys Herdman (female) – Age 7-8 small\, wiry\, feisty  \nAlice Wendleken (female) – Age 10-11 prim\, proper\, pain in the neck  \nMrs. Armstrong (female) – Age 45-60 managerial in voice and manner  \nMrs. Slocum (female) – Age 35-60 pleasant\, motherly woman \nMrs. Clark (female) – Age 35-60 \nMrs. Clausing (female) – Age 35-60 \nMrs. McCarthy (female) – Age 40-55 a younger\, less imperial version of Mrs. Armstrong \nMaxine (female) – Age 10-11 \nElmer Hopkins (male) – Age 12-13 \nHobie (male) – Age 9-10 \nDavid (male) – Age 8-9 \nBeverly (female) – Age 7-8 \nShirley (female) – Age 5-6 \nJuanita (female) – Age 5-6 \nDoris (female) – Age 9-10 \nReverend Hopkins (male) – Age mid-40’s \n  \nActors will be asked to read from the scenes in the Audition Packet during the auditions. \n

SUMMARY:Puffs\, or Seven Increasingly Eventful Years at a Certain School of Magic and Magic
DESCRIPTION:West Hudson Arts & Theater Company is thrilled to announce that the first Main Stage production of the 2023-24 Season will be Puffs\, or Seven Increasingly Eventful Years at a Certain School of Magic and Magic\, by Matt Cox. This exciting production will be directed by Allyssa Hynes. Stage Manager is Ed Shea. \n  \nSummary: Puffs is a tale for anyone who has never been destined to save the world. For seven years a certain boy wizard went to a certain Wizard School and conquered evil. This\, however\, is not his story. This is the story of the Puffs…who just happened to be there too. \nThis fast-paced\, clever play looks at a familiar adventure from a new perspective – of three potential heroes just trying to survive a rather dangerous school alongside a group of well-meaning\, loyal outsiders with a thing for badgers. This hilariously heartfelt tale asks what it means to be a “side character” in an epic adventure.  \nVenue: 15 Frank E. Rodgers Blvd. South\, Harrison\, NJ (the former Holy Cross High School) \nProduction Dates: October 20\, 21\, 26\, 27\, 28 @ 7:30 pm/ October 22 at 2:00 pm \nRating: PG-13 (There is some adult language and magical battlefield violence within the show) \nTickets: $20 Adults or $15 Seniors/Students \n\n BUY TICKETS\nTickets may be available at the door \n  \nCast List (in alphabetical order)  \nNelson DePasquale – Uncle Dave/Goyle /A Certain Potions Teacher/Mr. Nick/Hermeoone #3/Ric Gryff/Viktor/Mr. Bagman/ Zach Smith \nRichard Dwyer –  A Very Tall Man/Sorting Hat/Real Mr. Moody/Ghost History Teach / Professor Turban/SS Security/Death Buddy/Voiceover \nSamantha Egge – Ginny/Frenchy/Rowena/Professor Sprouty/Anthony Goldstein/Professor Lanny/Hermeoone #2/Scorpy/Death Buddy \nTim Firth – Mr. Voldy/First Headmaster/Sal \nBrooke Gorsica – Harry/Helga \nLillian Hope – Leanne/Runes Teach \nJohn Jesse Jeffords – Narrator \nJessica Jones – Susie Bones/Colin/Myrtle/Hermeoone #1 \nJoseph Jones – Oliver Rivers \nChloe Kiefer – Megan Jones \nMaggie Madere – Hannah/Professor McG/SS Security \nNick Maes – J.
